Buying Books Online- A Wonderful Way To Shop

September 19, 2008

Buying books online is in fact, a much smarter and quicker way, as compared to the traditional way of buying books from book shops. Online book stores not only provide you with an infinite variety but also remain open 24×7. They also provide you with a twenty four hour online customer support, which helps to make your shopping easier and quicker. You hardly come across such an individual attention while shopping at traditional on-road book stores.

It is a real fun to get online and purchase the required books. It saves plenty of your valuable time, money and energy, which you waste, while going all the way to the market to purchase books from a traditional book shop. Hence buying books online is not only quite profitable but also very feasible.

All you have to do is get online, and with just a few clicks you can purchase the books, sitting in the comforts of your own house. Once the order is placed by you, the online book store dealers ensure the quickest delivery of the books at your doorsteps. Doesn’t all this sound too good to be true?

You can also get hold of some used college books at some of the online book stores. Students prefer to buy these books as they are usually in fair good conditions and can be purchased at quite affordable prices. So just find a good online book store and explore a new way of purchasing books.

“Plz don’t kill me” says, the female fetus

June 24, 2008

Unfortunately, ours has always been a male dominated society. Since ages man has been proud to treat women more as a mere slave than as an equal partner. Though, known by many beautiful names such as better half, fair sex, and devis; women have been abused physically, morally, sexually, economically and politically too.

But the most disturbing dimension that has been added now to the heartless cruelty against women is to kill a female child even before her birth. Science progressed and gave us a device called “ultrasound”, to detect ailments and abnormalities inside human body. Ironically, man is using this device to detect the sex of the child even before it is born. Imagine a mother who agrees to have the fetus exterminated, if it happens to be a female. How cruel???????

I was rather surprised to see the statistics, which show an increase in the number of parents, who willingly present themselves for aborting the female fetus. How can a mother become so hard hearted as to kill her own daughter even before she is born?

The entire society, some foolish religious beliefs and our wretched customs; all are to be blamed for this heartless act.

If you talk to the couples, who willingly exterminate their unborn daughter, the reasons provided by them sound too hollow and fake. Such parents present you with a long list of troubles which they feel starts with the birth of the girl child. They feel that these days it is very difficult to maintain the security of the girl child. It is even more difficult to find a good match for her. And the hardest part they feel is arranging for the dowry and still the demands and agonies never die even after her marriage. All these theories and opinions give the parents a shiver at the birth of a female child. They find it much easier to kill her in the womb rather than to suffer for the rest of their lives.

But can such an immoral action be justified by these hollow reasons??

Human race can never continue if this shameful act of female feticide continues for long. Even today the male-female ratio in India is adversely tilted against women. How long can men survive without the other half??

The only mantra to save society from this doom is focused education. The parents need to be educated in order to generate public opinion against female feticide. The rules and regulations made by the government will never work unless we come out of our prejudices and develop a rational attitude.

Discipline- A necessity to revive India

June 20, 2008

“Discipline” refers to a proper training and control of mind and character. It is a necessity to conduct life in accordance with rules and regulations. It can not be obtained without voluntary obedience to some fixed codes of behavior. Discipline may put some checks on your freedom, but a person free to do his will, can create havoc in the world. It is in fact impossible to lead a civilized life, without the check of discipline.

Discipline contributes towards “work and progress” and both the terms will sound meaningless in it’s absence. People usually make the mistake of associating discipline with cut down of freedom whereas discipline is undoubtedly the foundation of all freedom. The charm and value of freedom can not be realized without the discipline.

The deteriorating standards of discipline in our daily lives have already started showing colors. It has given birth to such an immense amount of violence, criminal acts, inefficiencies and corruption. You hardly find anyone taking his or her work seriously. Whatsoever be the field, indiscipline has eaten the roots of honesty; moral values and above all social and national life. Schools and colleges, which were once known as temples of learning have converted into hot beds of indiscipline.

These days, indiscipline has completely defiled the atmosphere. Is this the atmosphere in which we want our children to grow and flourish??? There is a dire necessity to take steps and realize our responsibilities. We can at least do our share of the duty with genuine sincerity by making our life more disciplined. Basically, it has to come from within and once the importance of discipline is realized, the existing world will become more organized and peaceful. So, be a contributing hand to make India a better place to live.

I-ME-MYSELF

February 27, 2008

To pen down your feelings takes quite an effort. It is very difficult to make the right choice of words, which have the capability to convey exactly how you feel. Have been struggling since past few weeks to write something. But what to write? I thought about my life and then again started wondering what to write out of it. I actually belong to a small town in India. I went out to study Engineering in another small town. I still do not know what made me take that sort of decision. I somehow completed my graduation but the stuff I got through never got into my mind. At my college also I was never interested in calculations and observations.  .

The town in which I went to complete my college always had unbearable summers but despite of it, the place had wonderful evenings. So, in the evening I used to go to the terrace of my hostel and sit there for hours together gazing at the moors. I loved the breeze brushing upon my body and souls, making them relax. I always love to be near to nature.Waterbodies have always attracted me, as I can observe the flowing water continuously for long hours. Water is a greatest miracle in itself. Flowing water has always fascinated me, it gives me an impression of flowing time. I can not return to the time which has already passed, similarly neither can I ever see the same water again.I came back to my hometown after graduating and within a few months got married. I conceived after six months of getting married and had a difficult pregnancy, most of the time being advised by my doctor to take a complete bed rest. After exactly seven months from my conception I gave birth to twin boys. My children were “premature” and weighed 1100 grams each. My doctor told me that such children need special attention and care. Hence I started a very unique journey of motherhood.
